The Party Ends in Hell

Here's why One of the signs we carry preaching on the street says. "The Party Ends in Hell"

"Now the works of the flesh are seen. They are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousy, out bursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murderers, drunkenness, revelries (partying), and the like, of which I tell you before hand just also as I have told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." Galatians 5.

It seems today that there is this idea that once you get saved all of your sins are covered and forgiven so that you can live any way you desire. We often hold the party ends in hell sign on South St. in Springfield, Missouri, or on Dickson St. in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Both of these places are known for their party atmosphere, and nearly every night that we preach with this sign someone drunk walks by and says, "I'm a Christian. I believe in Gods grace - He will forgive me".

In the book of Jude we are told that in the latter times certain men will turn God's grace into lasciviousness, or lawlessness. It seems this scripture is so relevant today. The modern church teaches a message of grace that gives sinners a license to sin by consoling them with the assurance of forgiveness without repenting first. You might ask: "Isn't grace unmerited favor?" Yes. However, grace is not simply a forgiving of sin, it is the chance for a sinner to live righteously. Titus Chapter 2 tells us that the Grace that brings salvation has appeared to all men teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts we should soberly, righteously, and godly. Grace is not God overlooking our sin, rather it is God reproving man for his sin and showing him how to live righteously. Grace is God offering us a second chance, that even though we fell away from God He is offering us a chance to be reconciled with Him. This is something that God does not offer the Devil, Grace is only offered to mankind.

The Apostle Paul asked: "Shall we continue in sin that Grace may abound? God Forbid!". If we ignore God's grace it may not appear to us anymore. However, if we turn God's grace into a license to sin we are doing more than ignoring God's calling. We are deceiving ourselves and believing a lie. "Know ye not that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Don't be deceived. Neither fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetousness, drunkards, revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the Kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6.
